The upcoming season of Strictly Come Dancing will see the addition of two new professional dancers, the BBC has revealed. Alexis Warr, a winner of the US dance series So You Think You Can Dance in 2022, and Julian Caillon from Australia, will be joining the 18 returning professional dancers on the BBC One show. Warr’s experience includes guest appearances on Dancing With The Stars, while Caillon has been a professional dancer on Australia’s Dancing With The Stars for three seasons.
Excited about her new role, Warr expressed her admiration for Strictly, stating that joining the show’s family is a great honor. Caillon, on the other hand, shared his excitement, mentioning how he has been a fan of the show for years. The two dancers will be discussing their new roles on BBC Radio 2’s Breakfast Show on Monday morning.
The judging panel for the upcoming season will feature Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke, and Shirley Ballas. Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman are set to return as hosts. The BBC has promised to unveil the celebrity line-up later in the year. Despite the show’s long-standing success since 2004, recent controversies surrounding the behavior of some professional dancers and celebrity guests have marred its reputation.
In response to these controversies, the BBC introduced new welfare measures for Strictly, including chaperones in all rehearsal rooms, additional welfare producers, and extra training for the professional dancers, production team, and crew. Notable incidents include Welsh opera singer Wynne Evans making an inappropriate comment during the Strictly live tour launch and EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick facing suspension by the BBC for using a slur against people with disabilities backstage during rehearsals
