Jurors at Liverpool Crown Court were shown CCTV footage of an alleged assault on three police officers at Manchester Airport. The incident took place on July 23 last year, at the Terminal 2 arrivals Starbucks cafe. Mohammed Fahir Amaaz, aged 20, and his brother Muhammad Amaad, aged 26, are accused of instigating the violence after police were called to the location.
The footage captured by the airport cameras showed a significant level of aggression towards the police officers according to the prosecutors. The brothers allegedly engaged in violent behavior towards both the officers and a customer at the cafe. Mohammed Fahir Amaaz is said to have headbutted a customer before being approached by four police officers at a pay station in the terminal’s car park.
The prosecution claims that Mohammed Fahir Amaaz assaulted two police officers, causing them actual bodily harm, and also attacked PC Cook. His brother, Muhammad Amaad, is alleged to have assaulted one of the officers causing actual bodily harm. Both men are from Rochdale, Greater Manchester, and they have denied the charges brought against them.
During the trial, PC Zachary Marsden testified that he attempted to gain control over the situation by moving the suspects away from the payment machine. However, he faced immediate resistance from Mohammed Fahir Amaaz, leading to a series of physical altercations. The trial continues as more evidence is presented to the court
