Medical student Alfa Muhamadu is travelling across Europe to see the Gallagher brothers perform

Medical student Alfa Muhamadu flew in from Nigeria via Zapara and Paris to see Oasis in Cardiff, as part of his European tour which will also take him across the US and Canada.

“The ongoing war in Nigeria certainly didn’t make it easier for me to leave and see my favourite band, but I couldn’t let this opportunity pass,” he said.

“I arrived in Cardiff yesterday but I’m worried about the price of food and being able to get a cab back and forth anywhere.”

He said as a medical student himself, the work of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds has inspired him to keep up with his studies, and he is thrilled to be able to see the brothers perform live for the first time.

“Forget K-pop and American rappers, Oasis has always been the best band for me. I’ve seen the High Flying Birds before, but this is the first time I’ll see Noel perform alongside Liam,” he said.

Despite a packed summer tour schedule and admissions he was nervous about his first night in Cardiff, he said he is excited for the chance to see the duo, especially at the home of his favourite football team.

Football fanatics Diego Rodriguez, 29, from Argentina, and Jua Isabella Parches, 28, from Colombia, have flown in for the concert and hope to see in addition to the concert Cardiff City host Luton on Saturday

“We usually go to England on holiday to watch football games but we thought this time around why not make it special and come to see the concert of this legendary band. I can’t wait,” said Diego.

“For me, it’s all about Oasis and football and especially I can’t wait to see my team, Cardiff City,” added Juan.

They have come prepared, both wearing leather jackets and black shoes, with Argentine and Colombian flags draped over their suitcases.

The pair also hope to get to know the city and English culture and are looking forward to visiting a few local pubs before the concert.
