Arrests made as two assaulted outside Iranian embassy

Following an altercation outside the Iranian embassy, seven individuals were apprehended on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. The Metropolitan Police stated that the clash occurred between demonstrators both in support and opposition of the Iranian monarchy, emphasizing that the incident had no connection to Israel. Two individuals received medical attention from the London Ambulance Service (LAS) at the scene, with one individual being transported to a major trauma center and the other to a hospital. To prevent further unrest, measures have been implemented to prohibit protesters from congregating in the vicinity until 13:00 BST on Sunday. The age of the seven men in custody has not been disclosed, while an eighth individual was apprehended for contravening the order restricting protests.

Initial reports suggested that only pro-monarchy demonstrators were involved in the altercation, according to the police. The affected area has been sealed off to allow for investigations to be carried out. An LAS spokesperson confirmed that they responded to reports of an assault at 09:56 BST and provided medical assistance on site, transporting one patient to the hospital and another to a major trauma center. Despite the seriousness of the incident, the injuries sustained by the individuals were deemed non-life-threatening. Notably, several national embassies, including the Embassy of The Islamic Republic of Iran, are situated on or in close proximity to Prince’s Gate
