Man in court after shootings of Scots in Spanish bar

A court in England saw the presence of a man accused of the shooting of two Scots in Spain. Michael Riley, 44, is wanted by Spanish police for the murders of Ross Monaghan, 43, and Eddie Lyons Jnr, 46, at Monaghans Bar in Fuengirola on May 31st. Riley appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London through a videolink from HMP Wandsworth. His extradition hearing is scheduled for later this year.

Mr. Riley has not faced any charges yet and has not had the chance to respond to the allegations made against him by the Spanish National Police. Due to technical issues with the videolink, Riley is anticipated to appear in person at the court on Friday. Merseyside Police took Riley into custody last Friday after an international arrest warrant was released by the Spanish authorities. The victims, who were watching the Champions League final at Monaghans bar, were connected to the Lyons crime group in Scotland.

After the tragic incident, Spanish authorities stated that the hitman’s gun had jammed following the murder of Lyons Jnr with one shot outside the bar. Subsequently, the gunman pursued Monaghan inside the venue and killed him with two more shots. Both victims were associated with the Lyons crime group located in the western part of Scotland
