Moment drug dealer re-arrested leaving HMP Kirkham near Preston

After serving time for supplying cocaine, possessing a weapon, and dealing drugs from his prison cell, Samuel Watts found himself back in trouble as he was arrested moments after his release from HMP Kirkham on November 21st last year. The 34-year-old from Northwich was handcuffed by Cheshire Police officers, just outside the prison premises. This arrest followed his admission of dealing drugs from his jail cell, a crime that was uncovered when a phone was found strapped to his waist during a search.

Facing Burnley Crown Court on Thursday, Watts was sentenced to an additional four years and four months in prison for his continued criminal activities. The arresting officer is heard in police footage informing Watts of his arrest in connection to the phone found on him in prison. Despite the unfortunate turn of events, Watts now has the opportunity to reflect on his actions during his extended time behind bars.

Having shown no signs of stopping his illegal activities, the messages found on the phone indicated that Watts had persisted in drug dealing while serving time in prison. PC Dan Lee from Cheshire Police expressed hope that this turn of events would prompt Watts to use his incarceration as a period for self-reflection, rather than engaging in further criminal enterprises. The case sheds light on the constant struggle against drug trafficking, even within the confines of a prison cell
