An inquiry into the tragic death of a 32-year-old woman during a skydiving accident revealed no suspicion of equipment failure. Marketing manager Jade Damarell lost her life after a fatal crash on farmland near Fleming Field, Shotton Colliery, County Durham, on April 27. A post-mortem examination at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle concluded that her cause of death was due to “blunt trauma.” The preliminary hearing in Crook, County Durham, was adjourned until a full inquest scheduled for August 21.

Jade Damarell, originally from Kowloon, Hong Kong, resided in Caerphilly, Wales, according to coroner’s officer Alexis Blighe. The court was informed by Ms. Blighe that the incident involving Ms. Damarell and the parachute occurred on April 27. Coroner Jeremy Chipperfield inquired about the possibility of equipment failure, to which Ms. Blighe responded affirmatively, stating that there was no reason to suspect any equipment malfunction.

After the tragic incident, Ms. Damarell’s family shared with the media their deep connection to skydiving and the vibrant community it entailed. Her family expressed their grief, emphasizing how Jade was cherished, respected, and loved by many. Bryn Chaffe, the chief instructor at the skydiving company that Ms. Damarell frequented, identified her body. Sky-High Skydiving, the company she was associated with, also mourned the loss, stating that the incident was a tragedy involving a valued member of their community.
