A new suspect has been apprehended in connection with the suspected arson incidents at two locations and a vehicle associated with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, according to the Metropolitan Police. 26-year-old Romanian national Stanislav Carpiuc, hailing from Romford, has been charged with conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life in relation to the fires in north London. Following his arrest at London’s Luton Airport on 17 May, Carpiuc is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

The charges leveled against Carpiuc pertain to three separate incidents – a vehicle blaze in Kentish Town, north London, a fire at the prime minister’s personal residence on the same street, and a fire at a location where he previously resided in north-west London. Carpiuc, along with 21-year-old Roman Lavrynovych and others, is accused of plotting to set fire to another’s property, with the intent of damaging the property or endangering another’s life, as stated by the Met. Lavrynovych, from Sydenham, made an appearance in court on Friday, facing three charges of arson with intent to endanger life.

Meanwhile, a 34-year-old individual was taken into custody on Monday in the Chelsea area on suspicion of conspiring to commit arson with intent to endanger life. Notably, the incident involving a car previously owned by Sir Keir which caught fire on Thursday 8 May occurred on the same Kentish Town street where the prime minister had resided before his move to Downing Street. Subsequent incidents, including a small fire at a residence in Islington and a fire at Sir Keir’s former dwelling, have also been tied to the Prime Minister. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and it has been revealed that the property had been leased to Sir Keir’s sister-in-law
