The prestigious Chelsea Flower Show welcomed royalty and celebrities on Monday, showcasing a unique focus on dogs. King Charles III and Queen Camilla were early visitors, accompanied by notable personalities such as football legend David Beckham and actress Cate Blanchett. This year’s exhibition highlights rewilding and sustainability, featuring mossy paving, native plants, and gravel pathways that reflect the evolving natural landscapes influenced by climate change.
In addition to the captivating flora, the RHS and BBC Radio 2 Dog Garden, designed by Monty Don, offered a special treat for four-legged companions. Tailored for the comfort of dogs, the garden boasts dog-friendly lawns, water features for cooling off, and trees for shade. The paths are adorned with the names of royal and broadcaster-owned dogs, including the Queen’s late Jack Russell, Beth, her new puppy Moley, and the King’s loyal companion, Snuff.
Monty Don, known for his disdain for traditional show gardens, expressed his enthusiasm for celebrating the bond between owners and their dogs at the Chelsea Flower Show. While the canine-inspired garden will not be part of the judging process and will be temporary, it will eventually find a permanent residence at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.
