Far-right leaders attempting to hijack success of Reform

Prominent figures from the far-right movement are strategizing to infiltrate Reform UK and steer the party towards extremist ideologies. David Clews, known for spreading conspiracy theories, and Mark Collett, a former member of the far-right Patriotic Alternative (PA), have urged their supporters to join Nigel Farage’s party to promote a “pro-white” and anti-immigration agenda.

During an online broadcast, Clews asserted that sympathizers with far-right views were already actively involved within Reform, potentially holding positions such as “branch chairs” and candidates on election lists. However, a Reform spokesperson emphasized that the party does not welcome far-right individuals and has rigorous vetting procedures in place to prevent their influence.

Clews and Collett, who have a history with the British National Party, have signed a declaration of intent to push Reform UK towards the right. Their strategy involves encouraging their followers to actively participate in Reform, including seeking candidacy for various political positions in order to sway the party’s direction towards their extremist views.

The plan presented by Clews and Collett poses a challenge to Reform’s vetting process, which has faced issues in the past with candidates holding far-right beliefs. The party had to address concerns earlier about some candidates expressing hateful sentiments and aligning themselves with extremists.
