Second man arrested over fires at homes linked to Keir Starmer

A recent arrest has been made in connection with a series of arson attacks in north London targeting properties linked to Sir Keir Starmer. The 26-year-old suspect was taken into custody at London Luton Airport on Saturday under suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life. This arrest is linked to three separate incidents: a vehicle fire in Kentish Town, a fire at the prime minister’s private residence on the same street, and a fire at a previous address in north-west London.

Roman Lavrynovych, 21, a builder and roofer, appeared in court on Friday facing three counts of arson with intent to endanger life related to the fires. He did not provide any pleas during the court appearance. The newly detained 26-year-old is currently being held by authorities in London as the investigation continues. The Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command has been leading the inquiry due to the prominence of the target, a high-profile public figure.

Emergency services were dispatched to the Kentish Town property in the early hours of Monday following reports of a fire at the residence where Sir Keir resided prior to assuming office and relocating to 10 Downing Street. Although damage was sustained to the property’s entrance, fortunately, no injuries were reported. It has been disclosed that Sir Keir still maintains ownership of the residence and has it rented out. Additionally, on the 8th of May, a car previously owned by Sir Keir and sold to a neighbor in 2024 was set ablaze on the same street.

In another occurrence, firefighters responded to a minor fire at the front door of a multi-unit dwelling in Islington, where the prime minister had previously resided, in the early hours of Sunday. Crews successfully evacuated one individual through an internal staircase while wearing breathing apparatus. The investigation into these destructive acts of arson is ongoing as authorities work to ensure the safety and well-being of the targeted individuals and their properties
