Justin Crump has his own criticism of the review. He argues that the primary objective of the UK government should be to keep the confidence of its allies in Washington. Crump says this matters more than anything else. He predicts the UK will lose its “pool player” status within Nato because of recent military withdrawals.

He doesn’t believe the UK can continue to be a “leading and respected player” in the alliance by the time of Nato’s 80th birthday in 2029.
