New York’s legendary Blue Note Jazz Club to open new venue in London

A new London location for the iconic Blue Note Jazz Club from New York is on the horizon, with a planned opening in early 2026. The upcoming venue is set to be situated in the basement of St Martins Lane hotel in Covent Garden, following a successful license application process. With a daily lineup of musical performances, the club is expected to be a prominent addition to the city’s nightlife scene.

Operating seven days a week, the Blue Note Jazz Club will have a 1:AM license from Monday to Saturday, and will close at midnight on Sundays. A full-service kitchen will be available throughout the week for patrons to enjoy. The venue will feature two intimate rooms, with a main room accommodating 250 guests, and an adjoining space with a capacity for 100 attendees. The club aims to showcase a diverse range of artists, from established icons to emerging talent.

The approval of Blue Note Jazz Club’s license comes after a recent hurdle in securing it. In the past, the Metropolitan Police had objected to the club’s licensing application, citing concerns about potential crime, disorder, and public nuisance. Despite initial challenges, the venue was able to overcome these obstacles and obtain its first-ever UK license. The decision was praised by the Night Time Industries Association, although CEO Michael Kill expressed concerns about the process leading up to the approval.

Addressing the decision to grant the license, a spokesperson for Westminster City Council emphasized the careful consideration given to licensing decisions based on evidence and community needs. While an exact opening date for the London location has not been announced, the Blue Note Jazz Club is slated to debut in early 2026, with further details expected to be revealed in the near future
