William and Kate celebrate anniversary on Isle of Mull

The Isle of Mull in Scotland is the location where the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay are celebrating their 14th wedding anniversary. William and Kate, who tied the knot at Westminster Abbey in 2011, will be touring the island and visiting community halls that are being refurbished with the help of their Royal Foundation. The couple will be staying at a self-catering cottage on Mull following their official engagements.

As part of their visit, William and Kate will explore Aros Hall, which houses a community fridge, charity shop, and children’s play area. They will also visit Tobermory Producers Market at the nearby harbor to interact with makers and creators. Additionally, they will spend time at a combined croft and restaurant on the west coast of Mull, where they will explore the land, see the Hebridean sheep, and select garden produce for the menu.

The objective of their visit is to emphasize the significance of communities and the need to protect and promote the natural environment. The Royal Foundation’s Community Impact Programme has provided grants for the renovation of facilities at Aros Hall and Pennyghael Community Hall on Mull. Interior designer Banjo Beale, known for presenting BBC’s “Designing The Hebrides,” will be collaborating with islanders to ensure that the community-owned centers reflect the culture of the area.

Banjo Beale expressed his excitement about working with the Royal Foundation to redesign and preserve these vital community spaces. He emphasized the importance of restoring old walls and reimagining possibilities when combining community and creativity. Beale looks forward to breathing new life into beloved buildings and celebrating the island’s warmth, resilience, and unique essence
