In a recent interview on the BBC’s Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, actor Jack Lowden shared his excitement about the opportunity to play a ginger Mr. Darcy in a new adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. He expressed his enthusiasm for the idea of “breaking down barriers” by taking on this iconic role. Lowden, 34, was joined by fellow British actor Martin Freeman, 53, as they discussed their upcoming West End play and their experiences in the entertainment industry.

Reflecting on his role in the Netflix adaptation of Austen’s classic novel, Lowden mentioned that he may draw inspiration from previous actors who have portrayed Mr. Darcy. Lowden highlighted the dark humor of the show, emphasizing the importance of laughter as a form of self-healing and coping with difficult situations.

In addition to discussing their stage endeavors, the duo touched upon the Bafta-nominated series “Slow Horses,” focusing on discarded intelligence agents from MI5. Lowden revealed insights into his training for the spy-themed show, including a day spent with an ex-MI6 officer learning about surveillance techniques.
