Among the most popular sub-genres within the #ElectronicMusic tag are techno and house, with acts like Disclosure and Joel Corry driving the genre’s popularity on the platform. TikTok’s head of partnerships for the UK and Ireland, Toyin Mustapha, highlighted the community aspect of tagging music genres on TikTok, emphasizing that electronic music is a community-led movement.

In the UK, videos created with the #ElectronicMusic tag experienced a 50% growth in 2024, with views increasing by 22%. Mustapha noted that dance music has become more accessible and mainstream, with artists breaking down boundaries and reaching commercial success. This trend is not only evident in festival bookings but also in official chart rankings.
