A search is currently underway for a driver who struck a woman with a van on a golf course following a police pursuit. West Midlands Police shared that they are utilizing CCTV footage and accounts from witnesses in their efforts to locate the driver and two passengers involved in the incident. The collision on Aston Wood Golf Club in the village of Little Aston, located on the border of Staffordshire and Sutton Coldfield, caused serious injuries to the woman, who is in her 60s.
Emergency services were summoned to the scene of the accident on Friday morning, where the woman was found in critical but stable condition. Authorities have reported that the family of the injured woman is receiving support from the police during this challenging time. A spokesperson for the police force mentioned, “The driver and two passengers from the van fled the scene and are currently at large.” The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has been notified about the incident and will be investigating the involvement of West Midlands Police officers leading up to the crash.
Staffordshire Police are collaborating with West Midlands officers in conducting inquiries pertaining to the incident, and are urging anyone who may have information or recordings of the area during the time of the crash to come forward
