£36.95A new initiative called Keep North Docks Tidy has been launched by a collaboration of seven schools in the northern part of the city. This four-month pilot project aims to clean up the local community and make a positive impact on the environment. To kick off the project, nearly 100 young people participated in the Great British Spring Clean litter-picking campaign, resulting in the collection of over 90 bags of litter.
The pilot project is a joint effort involving Liverpool City Council, Liverpool Streetscene Services, Onward Homes, Keep Britain Tidy, Veolia, and primary schools located in the North Docks neighborhood. This project aligns with the Council’s neighborhood model introduced in 2023 to address specific issues faced by different areas of the city. North Docks is just one of 13 neighborhoods in Liverpool where similar initiatives are taking place to promote community engagement and environmental sustainability.
With a focus on recycling and reducing litter, Keep North Docks Tidy will run for the rest of the academic year, spreading the message that the environment belongs to everyone. Young participants will have the opportunity to learn about recycling processes, create posters promoting positive behaviors, and present their ideas to Council members. The goal is to instill a sense of pride in the community and empower young people to take charge of their surroundings for a greener future
