The Smithdown community is gearing up for a lively celebration of music, food, and culture as residents come together to share and revel in their heritage. The event will take place at Picton Children’s Centre on Earle Road, L7 6HD, on Saturday, 22nd March from 12 to 2:30pm. Organized by Liverpool City Council’s Neighbourhoods team, Picton Children’s Centre, and local businesses and support services, the aim is to bring neighbors closer, nurture connections, and embrace diversity.

Entertainment will be a key feature of this celebration, with performances scheduled from the renowned Choir with No Name and the Batala Drummers. The charity Asylum Link will be providing food, including takeaway boxes for Muslim residents observing Ramadan. Alongside the festivities, various services will be on hand to offer advice and support in areas such as housing, health, and leisure.

The Smithdown community’s emphasis on diversity sends a strong message that there is no room for division and hate in Liverpool. This forthcoming event serves to build on the solidarity already present, reinforcing the community’s dedication to unity. Cllr Laura Robertson-Collins, Liverpool City Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities, Neighbourhoods, and Streetscene, expressed that the event signifies a celebration of unity, culture, and the power of community, inviting everyone to partake in this significant day.
