Rowetta appeals for witnesses of alleged attack by Shaun Ryder in 2000

Former Happy Mondays member Rowetta is currently seeking witnesses to an alleged attack from ex-bandmate Shaun Ryder. In a post on Twitter, Rowetta appealed to the public for any footage or information related to the incident, which she claims occurred on a Stena Line Ferry in 2000. She expressed gratitude to those who have already reached out with support and information.

Rowetta made the startling allegations last month, alleging that Shaun Ryder physically assaulted her, resulting in her being knocked unconscious. She emphasized the presence of multiple witnesses during the altercation. Ryder, however, has refuted these claims in a statement released to The Metro, expressing shock at Rowetta’s accusations.

The incident is said to have taken place following a performance at Dublin’s Witness Festival in 2000 while onboard a ferry to Holyhead. Rowetta revealed that she experienced mistreatment while touring with the Happy Mondays, describing being in uncomfortable situations compared to other band members. She has referenced witness accounts, photos, and past press reports to corroborate her version of events.

As legal proceedings may ensue, Rowetta has indicated that she is exploring her options and intends to involve law enforcement in the matter. Despite the controversy, Rowetta recently parted ways with the Happy Mondays after three decades of collaboration, marking the end of a longstanding musical partnership. Both parties have issued statements regarding her departure, highlighting mutual respect and well wishes for the future
