Judo Olympian pleads for help finding missing brother in Bristol

A plea for help has been issued by a judo Olympian in the search for her missing brother, who vanished from a retail park late at night. Luis Piovesana, 26, was last spotted at around 03:00 GMT on Friday at Eastgate Retail Park in Bristol, having departed from a venue in nearby St Jude’s and arriving there by taxi. Lubjana Piovesana, 28, a former Team GB competitor who switched to the Austrian team, expressed urgency in the search for her brother in the upcoming hours. Avon and Somerset Police expressed deep concern for Mr. Piovesana, stating that his absence was uncharacteristic.

CCTV footage captured Mr. Piovesana moving on foot around the retail park in the early hours of Friday. According to the police, he was wearing black baggy jeans with a diamond pattern stitching, cream-colored trainers, a black and grey Rapha gilet, and a black Rapha cap. Additionally, Mr. Piovesana bore a cartoon-style tattoo featuring a man, a car, and a cherub on his arm, alongside a Vespa motorbike on his stomach. Authorities mentioned that he had ties to Frenchay in South Gloucestershire. Concerns continue to escalate as hours pass with no sign of the missing individual.

Ms. Piovesana, the judo athlete known for triumphing over Team GB’s Lucy Renshall in the women’s -63kg judo event in Paris last year, took to Facebook to share her worries. She emphasized the precarious situation of her brother, emphasizing that he had no phone, money, or bank cards, leaving him vulnerable. Urging the community to check sheds, garages, or any accessible buildings where Mr. Piovesana could have sought refuge, she stressed the critical importance of immediate action. As the search intensifies, authorities are reaching out for assistance from the public, appealing for any CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage that may shed light on Mr. Piovesana’s whereabouts.

Detective Inspector Pete Walker echoed the growing concerns surrounding the disappearance of Luis Piovesana, calling on individuals with any information to come forward promptly. Extensive search efforts are underway as authorities work tirelessly to locate him as quickly as possible. With each passing day, the urgency to find Mr. Piovesana only intensifies, prompting a unified effort from law enforcement and the community to bring him back home safely
