In Dungannon, County Tyrone, a 30-year-old man has been taken into custody on suspicion of the murder of an elderly man. The victim, in his 70s, was discovered with severe injuries after an attack took place at a flat in Corrainey Park on Thursday evening. Despite the arrival of emergency services at the Lisnahull Estate, the man tragically passed away at the scene. Although originally from Poland, it was revealed that he had been residing in Dungannon for over two decades.
Authorities have reported that the arrested individual is currently being held by the police. The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received notification of the incident at 8:13 PM GMT and dispatched a response team promptly. Police authorities confirmed the death as a murder the next day, with Superintendent Peter Stevenson revealing that the victim was found seriously injured in the living room of the property. Following the tragic event, a vigil was held with over 100 attendees near the deceased man’s residence.
Friends and neighbors of the victim paid their respects by leaving flowers and candles near the scene of the assault.
