A forthcoming documentary shedding light on the life and career of renowned Detroit DJ, producer, and label owner Carl Craig is set to grace screens in the UK and Ireland in the upcoming spring season. “DESIRE: The Carl Craig Story,” which made its debut last year at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York, is hailed as an “intimate portrait” of the iconic techno DJ, in addition to being a tribute to his beloved hometown, Detroit.
The 90-minute feature film, as teased in its trailer, showcases appearances from industry heavyweights like Moodymann, Laurent Garnier, Roni Size, Gilles Peterson, and more. With a UK premiere at the Glasgow Film Festival scheduled for next month, the documentary is slated for release by Sovereign Films on May 8 in the UK and Ireland. This premiere will be followed by a Q&A session with the creators of the film.

The film offers a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes life of Carl Craig, delving into the moments when the party lights fade, and Carl has mere hours to recuperate before jetting off to the next event.
“DESIRE” traces Carl Craig’s journey from his roots in Detroit to his rise to stardom and global acclaim as a seminal figure in the city’s techno scene during the ’80s and ’90s.
