The group, which encompassed top visual effects studios like MPC, Mikros Animation, and The Mill, operated across various locations including the US, UK, Canada, and India. Despite efforts from Technicolor’s directors to sell the business, they were unable to secure a buyer, leading to this difficult outcome.

With the appointment of administrators in the UK arm of its business, Technicolor’s joint administrator Nick Holloway acknowledged the challenges faced by the company within the evolving economic climate of the creative industries. As a company with a storied history dating back to 1915, Technicolor initially collaborated on projects with major studios like Disney before acquiring prominent VFX studios such as The Mill and MPC, known for their award-winning work in films like Gladiator and Disney remakes. Recent projects, as reported by Variety, included titles such as “Kraven the Hunter,” “Young Woman and the Sea,” and “Emilia Perez.”
