DJ Python is gearing up for the release of his new EP, ‘I was put on earth’, which is scheduled to drop on XL Recordings next month. This marks the New York-based artist’s debut on the renowned UK label, following his last solo project, ‘Club Sentimentos Vol.2’, which came out on Incienso in 2022. The forthcoming EP is a five-track offering that will feature collaborations with various artists including London-based songwriter Organ Tapes, NYC’s Physical Therapy, and rapper Jawnino.
Set to be released on March 28, ‘I was put on earth’ is highly anticipated by fans who have been eagerly waiting for its arrival. The EP will also include the new single ‘Besos Robados’, featuring Isabella Lovestory, a reggaeton artist from Honduras. DJ Python gave a sneak peek of the single during his BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix in January 2024, building excitement for the track’s release which combines gritty percussion with Lovestory’s captivating vocals.
Forgoing a traditional approach to describing the record, DJ Python opted to present a conversation about the project. The dialogue explores themes of hard work, beauty, and the pursuit of creating something meaningful versus something simply consumable. It delves into the idea of finding beauty and inspiration in everyday moments, emphasizing the importance of striving for artistic achievement and recognizing the beauty in simplicity.
The EP will be available digitally and on 12-inch vinyl starting March 28, with pre-orders already open. The tracklist for the record includes songs like ‘Marry Me Maia’, ‘Dai Buki’ featuring Jawnino, ‘Coquine’, ‘Besos Robados’ featuring Isabella Lovestory, and ‘Elio’s Lived Behind My House Forever’.
