Met Police officers rescue people and fight blaze at hostel

A hostel in Euston, London caught fire in the early hours of 8 February and nine Metropolitan Police officers have received commendations for their bravery in rescuing 20 individuals. The officers arrived at the scene prior to any other emergency responders and quickly searched the five-storey building, directing those trapped and disorientated by the smoke to safety.

All of the officers and three members of the public who were involved were taken to hospital for medical attention for minor injuries caused by smoke inhalation. They have since been discharged from the hospital and are recuperating at home.

Bodycam footage from the event is available to watch, displaying the courage of the officers and the terrifying conditions in which they were operating. This footage undoubtedly demonstrates their expert training and quick-thinking in high-pressure circumstances.
