Ring Chime, White
£29.00A mass was held at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Handsworth to honor the life of 15-year-old Harvey Willgoose, who was killed in a stabbing incident at All Saints Catholic High School in Granville Road. Ahead of the church service, his parents, Caroline and Mark, paid tribute to their son and appealed for an end to the senseless violence. Harvey Willgoose was a Sheffield United fan, and those attending the anti-knife crime march were asked to wear red and white in his memory.
The march was organised by Sheffield United fans and several charities, including Mums United and Always an Alternative. People took to the streets, wearing red and white, and walked from the Town Hall to Bramall Lane football stadium. The event was held before the Sheffield United and Portsmouth match. Tributes to Harvey were left outside the stadium and at his school, where he was a former pupil of St Joseph’s Academy.
A 15-year-old boy has been charged with murder, possession of a bladed article, and affray. His trial has been scheduled for 30 June. Ahead of the march, the parish priest of St Joseph’s, Mark McManus, said that many members of their community would have been affected by Harvey’s death. He added that the mass would be offered for Harvey and his family and friends, as well as for both school communities and everyone who has been affected by this tragic incident.
The parents of Harvey hope that no other family would have to experience the kind of pain they are going through, and Mrs Willgoose encouraged people to think how it would feel if it were their loved one who got stabbed. The loss of such a young life is truly heartbreaking, and the incident is a reminder of the dangers of carrying weapons. It is time for everyone to unite against knife crime and prevent any more tragedies from happening
