Celebrity chef Gino D’Acampo has refuted allegations of inappropriate and intimidating behavior while on the set of his television shows. The charges were made public by ITV News, who claimed that dozens of individuals had accused him of using “unacceptable,” “distressing” and “horrendous” language. D’Acampo’s legal team issued a statement to ITV News in which he “firmly denied” the “deeply upsetting” accusations.
Anonymous accusers who had worked with D’Acampo on TV productions were cited as the source of the allegations. They accused him of using abusive language, acting aggressively during outbursts on set, and using sexualized language. The alleged behavior made some production staff fearful and uncomfortable, according to ITV News.
D’Acampo has denied the allegations, stating that the accusations date back over a decade. He has also stated he had never been notified of these issues previously. “I am a good father, a good husband, and have worked with well over 1500 individuals on around 80 productions, which I am so proud of,” he said. D’Acampo is 48 years old and has been a regular on British television since the early 2000s, primarily with ITV on a variety of cooking and travel programs as well as appearances on other entertainment shows.
ITV has made it clear that production firms have primary responsibility for the well-being of everyone they employ. The broadcaster stated that it had strengthened its policies regarding production firms’ standards in the last five years. It went on to say that all of the accusations made against D’Acampo’s inappropriate behavior are both inappropriate and unacceptable. ITV also reiterated that it had taken the appropriate actions where necessary regarding any reported complaints.
The accusers’ claims, which emerged in an ITV news investigation, have not been verified by the BBC, and his representatives have not yet commented on the allegations
