Barker announces first full-length record since 2019, ‘Stochastic Drift’

Electronic music artist Barker, who is based in Berlin, has revealed that his first full-length record in six years, Stochastic Drift, is set to be released on Smalltown Supersound on April 4. The eight-track album follows up from Barker’s Unfixed EP in 2023, and his debut album Utility, which was named as one of the 50 best albums of the year by Mixmag in 2019. With the release of the album, Barker aims to inspire his fans to embrace the uncertain and view changes as a potential positive, drawing a creative and social parallel between what has happened in his life and how it has manifested in his music.

The new album has been accompanied by the release of the single Reframing, a track that takes the listener through a dark, cavernous journey, comprising searing bass, scintillating percussion, and simmering synths. Barker stated that he wanted to describe a process that proceeds through a window of time full of change in his latest work.

Stochastic Drift has been highly anticipated, and Barker’s fans are eagerly waiting for the release of the electronic music producer’s new masterpiece. The album will consist of tracks like Cosmic Microwave, Fluid Mechanics, Positive Disintegration, The Remembering Self, Reframing, and Force of Habit.

Barker’s experimental compositions incorporate improvisation and live performance elements, which resonates with his fans, and they are looking forward to more of his new music’s unique, organic, and human touch. The album is now available for pre-order on Bandcamp.

Megan Townsend, who is a Deputy Editor at Mixmag, expressed that the album is an exciting release that is sure to inspire Barker’s fans, and they can’t wait to see what the artist has in store. Fans of the Berlin-based artist are excited and anxiously waiting for the release of the album.
