Watch the new trailer for Flying Lotus-directed sci-fi horror ‘Ash’

The trailer for the highly-anticipated sci-fi horror film, Ash, directed by Flying Lotus, has finally been released. The movie, which is set to hit US cinemas on March 21, follows Eliza González’s character, a space captain who wakes up on an unknown planet to find out that her crew has been savagely murdered. The trailer gives audiences a glimpse into the movie’s surreal alien setting and gory special effects.

Aside from its unique storyline, the Flying Lotus directed film will also feature an atmospheric score created by Steven Ellison himself. While the score has yet to be released in full, Ellison revealed to AnOther Magazine that he incorporated a lot of vintage synths in creating the soundscape of the movie.

This isn’t the first time the producer and DJ has ventured into film. He previously directed the 2017 body-horror film, Kuso, and the 2016 short film, Royal. The multi-talented artist also composed scores for the Netflix anime series Yasuke and the sci-fi thriller Perfect. Critics dubbed Kuso as the “grossest movie ever made,” due to its graphic and violent scenes, earning it a reputation for having audiences walk out during its screening at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.

Flying Lotus shared that he created Ash because he wants to innovate in the sci-fi space and show something new to the audience. Watch the trailer for Ash below to get a glimpse of this unique space horror flick.
