Experimental Parking Zone to be introduced around Everton FC’s new stadium

Liverpool City Council has revealed plans to establish a ‘Football Match Parking Zone’ around Everton FC’s new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium. The proposed parking zone will feature new measures similar to the parking regulations already in place at Anfield and Goodison Park, focusing on an area within a 30-minute walk of the stadium. To prepare for the opening of the experimental traffic zone, more than 4000 residents and 3000 businesses have been invited to apply for permits, while the city’s Transport and Highways team will oversee the zone for up to 18 months.

The zone will imply a series of requirements, including new parking restrictions, new resident parking areas, and new hours of operation for existing parking zones. New industrial parking zones both north and south of Boundary Street and new match day bus stands as well as taxi ranks will also be established. The aim of the new parking zone is to reduce congestion, improve air quality, and guarantee safety for drivers and pedestrians travelling to and from the stadium.

Finally, Liverpool City Council is investing over £20 million in highways infrastructure around Bramley-Moore Dock, including a permanent, segregated bike lane running from the city centre up to the northern border of the city at Bootle in Sefton. The stadium has already been chosen as a venue for the UEFA European Championships in 2028, Liverpool City Council plans to establish over 10,000 new homes, community infrastructure and transport at the partly regenerated docklands area and throughout the city’s streets and architecture.
