King Charles to feature in new Amazon Prime Video documentary

Amazon Prime Video has commissioned a documentary featuring King Charles, highlighting his environmental charity work in the UK and overseas. Filming for the project has already begun at Dumfries House in Scotland. The documentary is expected to explore the concepts from his 2010 book entitled “Harmony: A New Way of Looking At Our World,” demonstrating the scope and vision of his green causes to new audiences.

According to The Times, a number of platforms were considered before Amazon was selected. The film is scheduled to be released at the end of this year or early 2026. The news that Amazon was chosen is a departure for the Royal Family, who have typically worked with British networks for big on-screen appearances. Prince Harry and Meghan, on the other hand, have a multi-million pound deal with rival streaming platform Netflix.

As Prince of Wales, Charles spent decades campaigning and convening meetings to drive action on environmental issues. Although he is subject to new rules as King obliging him to remain politically neutral, he remains an advocate for climate action. In December 2023, he warned the COP28 climate summit in Dubai that “our survivability will be imperilled” unless humans restore the balance with the natural world.

The King’s documentary aims to showcase, through on-screen action, how eco-friendly ideas proposed in his book are being put into practice, transforming people, places and ultimately the planet. As a Buckingham Palace source revealed, it’s “astonishing really what has been put into practice since publication of the original book, 15 years ago, and how many of those pioneering ideas have been adopted in different ways.
