The body of a second woman has been discovered near the River Dee in Aberdeen, where two sisters had gone missing earlier this month. Henrietta and Eliza Huszti, both 32, were last seen near the Victoria Bridge on 7 January. Officers discovered a body near the Queen Elizabeth Bridge at around 7:55am, followed by another near the Victoria Bridge over 13 hours later.
The Huszti family has been informed and enquiries are ongoing, although police have said that there appear to be no suspicious circumstances. Superintendent David Howieson conveyed his thanks to everyone who had assisted in the investigation.
Originally from Hungary and part of a set of triplets, the disappearance of the sisters had sparked a major search operation, which included both the river and harbour area. Detective said they were searching the coastal areas north and south of the city as their inquiries continued.
Police have said it is a missing persons inquiry rather than a criminal investigation. There had been no indication from the sisters that they planned to move out of their Aberdeen flat, which they shared with their younger brother.
Jozsef Huszti commented earlier this month on the peculiarity of the family’s incomplete knowledge of the sisters’ decision, as the siblings had been saving for a home purchase. While ongoing inquiries maintain an air of uncertainty surrounding the sisters’ disappearance, the latest findings have greatly disturbed both Aberdeen residents and sympathisers worldwide
