The funeral of Linda Nolan, the Dublin-born singer, has been held in Blackpool today with a large turnout of friends, family and fans. The service took place at St Paul’s Church, Blackpool, where Linda married her husband, Brian Hudson. The Nolans, the pop group of which she was a member, was famous for their hit I’m in the Mood for Dancing. Linda Nolan passed away at the age of 65 on January 15th after being diagnosed with cancer two decades earlier.
Entertainers including Shane Richie and Paul Elliott were among the mourners. Elliott paid tribute to the singer, calling her “a fun, bubbly person”. The pair performed together in pantomimes and at charity functions, with their last meeting in 2024. He further expressed his grief at her loss, stating that the “world’s a darker place without her.”
The hearse carrying Nolan’s pink glittery coffin was greeted by members of the public who lined the path to the church. Nolan’s family members, wearing black with some having pink ribbons pinned to their outfits or carrying pink handbags, walked behind the hearse. Inside the church, a framed photo of Nolan was placed on an easel. Mourners including TV personality Charlotte Dawson, singer Lisa Maffia, Lee Brennan from boyband 911, and actress Jodie Prenger also attended the service.
Linda Nolan had been a campaigner and fundraiser for cancer awareness after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, with a later diagnosis of secondary breast cancer in 2017. She underwent treatment including chemotherapy and radiotherapy before being given the all-clear in 2011. Nolan appeared on Celebrity Big Brother and her theatre career included performances in Blood Brothers, Pump Boys And Dinettes and Prisoner Cell Block H – The Musical, with Paul O’Grady.
With the passing of Linda Nolan, we have lost not just a talented artist but also an advocate for cancer awareness. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy will live on. Mourners continue to sign the book of condolence outside, paying their respects and celebrating the life of a beloved sister, friend, and entertainer who was a symbol of hope, humor, and resilience
