A 14-year-old boy has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of 12-year-old Leo Ross in Birmingham, West Midlands Police have confirmed. Leo died in hospital on 1 December, shortly after suffering knife wounds to his stomach. His body was discovered near Scribers Lane, Hall Green, with his family describing him as “the most beautiful, kind child”. The accused teenager is also charged with seven additional offences, including possession of a bladed weapon.
According to police records, the additional charges include two counts of assaulting police officers on 26 November 2024, one serious assault of a woman on 19 January and another on 20 January, as well as the assault of a woman on 21 January. Despite the seriousness of the series of accusations, none of them are believed to be related to the knife attack that led to Leo’s death. The accused teenager, who cannot be named due to his age, will be tried in January 2023.
Leo’s family issued a statement paying tribute to the 12-year-old, describing him as “an amazing, kind and loving boy”. They also expressed their gratitude to the police and all individuals involved in supporting them during this traumatic time. Leo’s death has sparked a strong reaction in the Hall Green community, with many residents paying tribute to him and expressing their condolences to his family.
