A woman was killed by gunfire outside a church in north-west London, leading to the arrest of Tahjin Sommersal, an 18-year old man from Feltham. Michelle Sadio, 44, was attending a wake when she was shot outside the River of Life Elim Pentecostal Church in Harlesden. Two men aged in their 30s were also injured during the shooting. Sommersal faces charges of murder, as well as possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and two counts of attempted murder. He has been remanded in custody and appeared at Willesden Magistrates’ Court and is set to appear at the Old Bailey.
The vehicle from which the gun was fired is described as a black Kia Niro, with distinctive alloys. The car was later abandoned and set on fire at Barnhill Road. In connection with the killing, the police arrested five other men, both aged 18 and others aged 21, 24, and 33 at addresses in Brent and Hounslow. They remain in police custody.
London’s Metropolitan Police have been conducting investigations into the details surrounding the shooting. Ms. Sadio died at the site of the shooting, with her death being confirmed by emergency responders shortly after. The church stated that it was “devastated and heartbroken,” with members of the community laying candles and flowers at the site in her memory.
