Bedford bus station stabbing sees three teenagers arrested


The death of a 17-year-old boy who was stabbed at a bus station in Bedford has led to the arrest of three teenagers on suspicion of murder. The incident took place on Wednesday at 17:50 GMT near the bus station in Bedford, leading to the death of Thomas Taylor who passed away in the hospital. Two 18-year-old men and a 17-year-old boy are in the police custody for questioning, and on Thursday, a man in his 60s was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. However, he has been granted bail pending further inquiries.

Det Insp Richard Stott is leading the investigation for the Bedfordshire Police’s major crime unit and has described the incident as “an absolutely shocking incident.” The police are taking all measures to assure the wider community that the officers are working relentlessly and pursuing all lines of inquiry. They have deployed increased patrols in the surrounding area to ensure public safety.

Thomas’s mother, Samantha Taylor, commemorated her son in a written tribute and described him as a deeply caring, family-oriented, and intelligent young boy. His headteacher Chris Deller described Thomas as a well-liked and respected boy who finished Year 11 with an excellent set of results and started studying at sixth form. Flowers and written messages have been left near the bus station in Bedford.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward to help them. They are particularly interested in talking to people who were in the Greenhill Street area at the same time as the incident and those who know those involved
