New homes: Scale of building challenge revealed by BBC housing tracker


An analysis conducted by BBC Verify has revealed that several local councils across England would need a five-fold increase in housing construction to meet the government’s housing targets. The challenge ahead for Labour, with its “milestone” of constructing 1.5 million new homes in England over five years is immense. In total, 16 local councils across England have annual targets that are five times or more than what they have recently delivered.
