The murder of William McNicholl, known as Billy, has triggered a murder enquiry, as police were called to an address in Hawthorn Drive, Ipswich shortly before 18:00 GMT on Wednesday. The preliminary results of a post-mortem by the Home Office into the case indicated that he died from multiple injuries. Suffolk Police has identified the victim as a 63-year-old resident of the town. At present, there is still a police presence near the premises at Hawthorn Drive, which is located near Marigold Avenue.
The police have requested the cooperation of the public in the case, urging anyone with information about the case or who saw any suspicious activity near the property between Tuesday, 24 December, and Wednesday, 1 January, to come forward. As of now, the case has not gone to inquest.
