British woman and fiance found dead in Vietnam villa


A British woman and her South African fiancé have been found dead in a holiday villa in Vietnam, with authorities currently investigating the cause of their sudden deaths. Greta Marie Otteson, 33, was discovered dead by hotel staff in a first-floor room in Hoi An, whilst her fiancé, Els Arno Quinton, aged 36, was found dead in a room that had reportedly been locked from the inside. Both individuals had registered for long-term residency at the villa since last summer, and police found no signs of external force and no evidence of burglary.

Whilst an investigation is still ongoing, local media has reported that several empty wine bottles were found at the scene. The UK Foreign Office has confirmed that it is assisting the family of the British woman and is in contact with the local authorities.

Ms Otteson was a social media manager, and Mr Quinton was a musician and livestreamer. A video of the couple announcing their engagement was recently posted on Instagram by Red Eye Studios, a videography company. Since the news of their deaths emerged, friends and family have paid tribute to the couple on social media.
