Thames Valley Police have confirmed that a man is being held on suspicion of murder after two women were killed in a suspected stabbing incident on Christmas Day. The 49-year-old from Milton Keynes is under arrest and is also suspected of attempted murder after a man in his late 20s and a teenage boy were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The boy and man remain in a stable condition. An injured dog has also been found and is being tended to. Residents living in the region have been informed there will be a significant police presence in the area while the investigation continues.
Officers were called to the incident in Santa Cruz Avenue, Newton Leys, Bletchley, UK, at around 6:30pm on Christmas Day. In addition to the two women who lost their lives, another man was seriously injured. The site was closed to the public while a forensic team made its way to the scene. The investigation may have an impact on the surrounding area over the next few days as police and forensic teams conduct their operations.
Sophie Pritchard, a local resident, has expressed her shock and horror at the matter, stating that it’s “just awful what’s happened, tragic… something like this shouldn’t be happening anywhere.” On Thursday 26 December, flowers were placed at the scene to show support to those who were affected by the incident and to honour those who lost their lives.
Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Brangwin has sent his “deepest condolences to the families of the women who have tragically died in this shocking incident”. According to his statement: “We have launched a double murder investigation which may be concerning to the wider public, however we have made an arrest and are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident and the parties are known to each other. Members of the public will see a large police presence in the area while our investigation takes place. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to approach our officers and they will do their best to help.
