A 60-year-old man, Christopher Barlow, has been charged with the murder of Mariann Borocz, whose body was discovered 10 days after she was reported missing. Greater Manchester Police had conducted searches for the woman and issued community appeals to find her. The police force said her body was found at a property in Bolton on 24 December and had since been formally identified. Barlow is due to appear in Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court charged with her murder.
Ms Borocz’s family members are receiving the support of family liaison officers, according to the police. Detectives have urged anyone with information related to the case to contact them. “Our condolences remain with Mariann’s family as they try to come to terms with her death. Our investigation is moving at pace, and we are continuing to work hard to build a full timeline of events leading up to Mariann’s death,” said Det Ch Insp Tony Platten.
The family of Ms Borocz was concerned at the time of her disappearance in mid-December as it was reported to be out of character for her and they described her disappearance as “totally out of character.” Actress Kate Robbins was among those who posted about the search for Ms Borocz on social media.
According to information obtained from Ms Borocz’s social media page, she had five children with Miki Rakosvary, a Hungarian musician. Ms Borocz was originally from Hungary but had been resident in the UK for a lengthy period of time. The woman was described by those who knew her as a kind and caring individual
