In the first court appearance for a tragic case, a woman has appeared charged with the murder of her five-year-old son. The child, Lincoln Button, tragically died on December 15th at his home address in South Ockendon in Essex. Claire Button, his 35-year-old mother, appeared before Southend Magistrates’ Court and only spoke to confirm her identity. She was remanded in custody and will appear before Chelmsford Crown Court on Tuesday via video.
Essex police had initially responded to reports of serious concern for the welfare of a child and woman on the Sunday when Lincoln was discovered. Essex Police worked alongside paramedics in an attempt to save the child’s life. The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment and only arrested when her condition improved.
