Tragedy struck at Ogmore-by-Sea, a beach in South Wales when a man died due to a mishap in the water. At 10:30 GMT on Sunday, South Wales Police received the call to the scene, where the man was said to have died as a result of the incident. The Coastguard was also informed of the situation and sent over a rescue team, RNLI lifeboats, and ambulances services, including air ambulances, in order to help out as well.
The force has since informed the man’s next of kin and coroner about the unfortunate incident. While further details have yet to be released, it is a sad reminder of the importance of water safety, especially during a time where many are flocking to beaches and water bodies to cool off due to the warmer weather. “This has been a multi-agency operation, involving the Coastguard and its helicopter, as well as RNLI lifeboats, rescue teams, police and ambulance,” the Coastguard informed in a statement. “Many people were on scene and able to provide vital assistance which is so important in times of emergency.”
