Mishal Husain bids farewell in final Today episode


After more than a decade on Radio 4’s Today programme, presenter Mishal Husain has bid farewell to her listeners. Husain had worked for the BBC since 1998 and had also presented on the BBC News at Six and Ten, as well as the news channels. In a statement released in November, it was announced that Husain would be leaving Today to host a new interview series for Bloomberg and be its editor-at-large for its Weekend Edition.

Husain had become one of the most respected broadcasters in the UK, earning praise for her interviews with high-profile politicians and figures from all walks of life. During her time on Today, she covered a wide range of events, including the Brexit vote in 2016 and the 2017 general election. She also won praise for her compassionate reporting of the Grenfell Tower disaster in 2017.

Husain leaves a big gap at Today, which is known for its rigorous news analysis and its ability to set the political agenda for the day. The programme has been running since 1957 and has seen many changes over the years, but its commitment to providing impartial, in-depth coverage of the day’s events has remained constant.

Although Husain’s departure will no doubt be felt by many listeners, she leaves behind a legacy of accomplished broadcasting and excellent journalism. Her new role at Bloomberg will no doubt allow her to continue to showcase her exceptional interviewing skills and affable style
