Police in the West Midlands have arrested a man following a crash that led to the death of a two-year-old child. Four adult passengers in a Toyota Auris were also injured in the incident, which involved a grey Porsche Cayenne. The Porsche had been stolen earlier in December. The driver of the car fled the scene. The man arrested is being held on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Two adults remain in hospital in a serious condition.
The collision took place on Dartmouth Road in the town of Smethwick on Saturday evening just before 23:00 GMT. The suspect was taken into custody after police received new information. The road had been closed in both directions to allow forensic teams to examine the crash site. The road has since reopened.
Residents have raised concerns about the road where the collision took place. The road is located near a roundabout on Kenrick Way, which is believed to be popular for car racing. Sarah Coombes, the local MP for West Bromwich, said that residents are terrified of the cars racing down the street on Friday and Saturday nights. She added that the tragedy has highlighted an ongoing issue in the area.

Coombes has raised the issue in parliament and has suggested that action needs to be taken to prevent further tragedies
