A double-decker bus has collided with a railway bridge in Glasgow city centre, causing eight people to be injured, including one person who is now in a critical condition. The collision resulted in part of the roof of the 4A First Bus being torn off, which left the vehicle wedged under the bridge where Cook Street meets Commerce Street.
The crash, which occurred at around 6 pm GMT on Saturday, led to five people being transported by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, three others were evaluated at the scene before being transported to hospital for treatment.
As of yet, there has been no official word as to the cause of the accident, and whether it was due to driver error or mechanical failure. Nonetheless, the incident has caused significant disruption in the city centre and the surrounding area. Further updates will be provided once more information becomes available.
