A blast at a terraced house in Ilford, north-east London has resulted in two people being taken to hospital. The injured are unidentified and extent of the injuries suffered has not been disclosed. The fire caused by the explosion was brought under control by the London Fire Brigade (LFB) at around 18:23. LFB sent around 60 firefighters to the scene, who successfully stopped the fire from spreading to neighbouring residences. The London Ambulance Service, hazard area response team, ambulance crews and incident response officers treated three people in total. Two of the people were transported to the hospital, and the third was discharged at the site. Station Commander Darren McTernan mentioned that the fire was controlled by the firefighters, who worked hard to contain it. The fire caused Ley Street, between Eastern Avenue and Vicarage Road, to be closed, and it remained so throughout the evening and caused traffic disruption in the surrounding areas. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.
