Police in Turkey have confirmed that a British tourist who was found dead in a lift shaft at a hotel in Antalya died after accidentally falling while under the influence of alcohol. Tyler Kerry, aged 20 and from Basildon, Essex, had been staying at the Trendy Lara Hotel when he disappeared on the 29th November. His younger brother, Mason Read, had previously voiced fears that Mr Kerry had been murdered. However, Turkish police have now dismissed that possibility stating that statements suggest that Mr Kerry had been drinking in a nightclub before he fell. There was also no evidence of “intervention” on his body.
The authorities confirmed that the lift had been out of use and there was “no proof of firearm or sharp object injuries”, leading the police to conclude that Mr Kerry had fallen to his death while under the influence of alcohol.
