Man dies after dog attack in east London


In Stratford, east London, a 42-year-old man was attacked by a dog on Wednesday morning and died later in hospital. The police have confirmed that Leanne McDonnell, 32, has been arrested and charged in connection with the attack, which took place on Shirley Road. McDonnell has been charged for owning a dog that was dangerously out of control and caused injury resulting in the man’s death. Furthermore, she has also been charged with failing in the duty of ensuring the animal’s welfare and having custody of a fighting dog.

The police arrived at the scene at 04:53 GMT on Wednesday after receiving reports that a man had been seriously injured. Following a thorough investigation, McDonnell was charged with three counts of owning a dog that was dangerously out of control and caused non-fatal injuries in an earlier incident on 18 November. The authorities have seized the dog that was involved in both incidents.

The investigation into this fatal attack remains ongoing. McDonnell was taken into custody following her arrest and has since been remanded to custody. Her court appearance is scheduled for Friday 6 December, where she will appear before Barkingside Magistrates’ Court.

The police have not as yet released the identity of the victim. The community of Stratford is currently shaken by this incident, and an outpouring of grief and condolences is being expressed on various social media platforms
